Strawberries

We had a great time at a farm just outside of DC today. Though my mind was running wild with thoughts of The Grapes of Wrath and migrant farmers, it is clear now that when you have kids, there is nothing overrated about some good, old-fashioned fun just outside the city.



I happened to dress Lily is a light-colored tshirt today...make sure to notice the progression of the day on her clothes. Lily decided to see how many strawberries she could eat within a 20-minute session... check out the great photos.

All about the Hair

Lily has been very into her hair lately... much to our chagrin, she insists on wiping her food-covered hands in her hair after every meal! She's also very interested in her hair clips and barrettes, so she was very excited when a package from my mom arrived with some new hair accessories!

Witness

Lily has been taking a few steps for awhile now, but we hadn't seen full-out walking until this past week! Trouble is, she walks across the room... then we run to get the camera and she holds out on us :) Regardless, I'm posting a few videos of her post-walks. Marcus was in town this week and he's our witness that yes, she is officially on two feet!

Ice Cream

After riding the carousel we passed an ice cream vendor; we realized we are terrible parents because Lily hadn't tried it yet. Here's some video of her first taste of ice cream AND chocolate...

As part of our Mother's Day fun, we walked down to the Mall to let Lily ride the carousel. Jeremy and I had both commented on the fact that we'd never ridden it every time we passed by... turns out we weren't missing much! Lily seemed pretty uneasy (although thankfully she didn't cry) and the spinning made Jeremy and I feel a little queasy. I'm sure as she gets older, though, she will want to stop and ride every time we are near it.

Happy Mother's Day

So now that I'm back at work the blog posts will probably come on weekends. I'm not as busy as you would think; I have a flexible schedule and am able to leave the office on afternoons when there's not much going on. The problem is since I'm not with her as much, I end up enjoying the time with her so much I forget to have the camera near by. But I love this picture that Jeremy took of us this morning... the candids that we randomly get are so much better than the cheesy posed ones!

Not Bad for the First Try

Jeremy's trying to get Lily's gambling addiction started young. Yesterday Lily picked her first Derby horse (no, it wasn't her first Derby but she was only a week old last year!) She picked Hard Spun who ended up placing. Not a bad pick!

The Big People Table

Lily kept getting mad when she figured out that her tray was not the same thing Jeremy and I ate on. So... we got her a new booster where she can eat at the table with us. Mealtime has been a much more pleasant experience the past few days... let's hope it lasts!

Chatterbox

Lily has become quite the conversationalist lately. She says Mama, Dada, George, cup, cat, star, what's this?, ball and a few others we're not quite sure of yet. Check out the video to see how many you can make out...
