Big Girl Bed

Another reason for Grandma and Grandpa's visit was to bring up Lily's new bed! We weren't sure how she'd react, but as soon as she saw it she said she wanted to "Get in! Get in!" She even slept in it the first night with no problems. Almost a week later, and Jeremy and I are crossing our fingers that our good luck continues.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

It's well-documented on this blog how much Lily loves the Air & Space museum. She decided to show her Grandma and Grandpa around during their visit last weekend.

Happy President's Day!

We did the completely predictable thing today, and headed out to Mount Vernon. One of Jeremy's favorite tourist-y things to do in DC, but a new adventure for Lily and I. Of course, we picked the one day each year that it's open to the public free of charge, so it was crazy. Luckily, we got there in the morning... friends of ours had to park at a local high school and take a bus in!

This was the first time we'd seen all the renovations that opened last year.
Lots of festivities in honor of Washington's birthday...
Lily was a champ waiting to take a peek inside...
... but definitely preferred the scenic route with Daddy.
High sixties for temperature and a beautiful view... what a great way to spend a day off!
Not sure if she thought Griffin was going to steal her chicken, but Lily would absolutely not hand over the rest of her lunch. It made it in her hands through the parking lot and into the car, and every time I turned around in the car to ask her how her chicken was doing, she just grinned.

Puddle

We were getting ready for a walk this afternoon when we looked out the window and noticed it was raining. It had slowed enough to let Lily have a little fun (thanks for the rain boots, Josie!) splashing around out front.

Kazoo

You know you have a fun job when, instead of a pile of paperwork, your little one pulls out a kazoo when rifling through your bag from work. My new job at KaBOOM! is going well, and Lily was eager to show that she's a natural when it comes showing off her new musical talent.

Random Recent Photos

Haven't updated the blog much lately... here are a few random cute photos.

Jeremy has the sometimes-fun, sometimes-torturous task of transporting Lily to and from daycare every day. Recently she has developed a fairly consistent opposition to the stroller (or the carseat, or anything else that will keep her restrained for longer than a few seconds). We have gotten into the habit of offering her a reward for her seated compliance (no, we don't use the term bribery)... so once she gets in her car seat, we sing a funny song... you get the idea. With the stroller, there's something about "her special cup" that does the trick. Here she is on our front steps, all smiles after a Metro ride home. Needless to say, Jeremy does not leave home without it.

Waking up from a nap with Mommy

Watching a little hoops with Daddy, and Baby Stella. Although no matter how hard Jeremy tries to engage her by pointing to a Cardinal and asking "What's that, Lily?" - she just replies, "Go Jayhawks!" (Insert my laughter here.)

Oh Frog

Jeremy got stuck on car maintenance duty Saturday, so Lily and I head over to the Frog exhibit at the National Geographic Building. It was pretty cool - a room filled with literally hundreds of different live frogs. Lily, however, couldn't get past two things long enough to enjoy the entire exhibit - one, the "wall" of lighted frog photographs and two, the "blue frog!". She ran back and forth between these two spectacles for a while before deciding it was time to head home.

Artist at Work

Lily wasn't feeling great today, but letting her use her markers down on her easel made the day a little easier. Whether it's paint, markers, chalk or crayons, she would happily create away for hours! Love the dry erase board and markers... helps cut down on our paper use.
Snuggling in the afternoon... not sure if Mommy or Lily needed the nap more!
