Kites!

In addition to it being the beginning of the Cherry Blossom Festival and opening weekend for the Nats (check out the new Nationals Park!) it was the Smithsonian Kite Festival this weekend. Perfect time for a walk down to the Mall...

At first Lily just walked around, taking in all the kites.

She stopped for a bit to share her snack...
... and then shocked us by laying down in the grass and taking it easy for a half-hour or so!
Relaxing time in the grass enjoyed by all three of us...

Ponytail

LIly has been really into hairstyles lately... she'll ask for a ponytail in the morning after we get her dressed!

Easter Video

Playground

Lily showed Uncle Mikey and Aunt Sarah one of her favorite playgrounds... check out the tunnel slide! Working on the upper body strength...
Down the slide with Sarah.
... and Mike
You get the idea.

Easter

So perhaps I was thinking a bit irrationally, but I thought Lily might have fun making cupcakes with me on Sunday afternoon. Actually - it wasn't that bad. She was really excited to help, and sang a little Bob Marley ("Stir it up") with me as we mixed the batter. She didn't quite have the patience for the 20 minute bake time in the oven, so we had to distract her with a trip outside until they were ready for her to eat.

Earlier that morning, Lily had fun taking a look at her Easter baskets. Between J. and I, her two sets of grandparents, and Uncle Mikey & Aunt Sarah - Lily had plenty to keep her busy!
Mike and Sarah got her a Thomas book, which she of course loved :)

Baby loves disco

Play date at a bar? Say no more... J. and I took Lily to the Rock and Roll Hotel (never been in there during the daytime!) a few weekends ago for some fun & music for the toddler set.
"Mom?! Enough with the camera, I'm trying to dance!"
Taking a juice and snack break with Daddy
Happy, happy, happy on the walk home
Two balloons equals a pretty great afternoon!

Remind you of anyone?

Lily really looks like her Daddy, especially when she flashes her cheesy grin for the camera...

March Madness

It's that time of year again. Mikey and Sarah are in town, the DirecTV package is ready to go... in the words of Dicky V. "It's March Madness, baby!" Rock Chalk Jayhawk... insert my mental plea here that KU does not become the 1st 1 seed knocked off in round 1.... go Hawks!

My mom went to Florida and all I got was this lousy...

Orlando Magic gear. No, we're not big NBA fans - but I spent the week building a playground with the Orlando Magic. Dwight Howard and some other players were there - and Dwight wouldn't wear a KaBOOM! hat unless I wore his Magic hat - so Lily ended up with the hat (actually Jeremy claims that it's his) and a Howard jersey.

Lotion

So you know those moments that people tell you about before you have kids? I remember people always having a story about havoc created by their toddler - and it almost always seemed to be preceded by parents realizing things were too quiet for everything to be okay. Anyhoo, it finally happened to me last weekend. I was folding laundry in Lily's room and she wandered into our bedroom. No big deal, but after a few minutes I realized that she wasn't making any noise. Went to check on her and found her with an open jar of body cream. She was having so much fun, and luckily the camera was nearby...

Park

We are so ready for spring! The weather got warmer last weekend, and we hung out at the park with Julie and her mom and dad.

I love this photo almost as much as Lily loves the swings...

"Present Hat?"

No, it's not Lily's birthday... she got this hat at her friend Jackson's birthday party. Funny to see the whole process through her eyes - she doesn't seem to get that it was all a celebration for Jackson. Instead she seemed hung up on the fact that Jackson gave HER a hat on the occasion. She calls it her "present hat" and asked for it at breakfast time for days after...
