Weekend Updates

We had a great weekend! Here are the highlights:

We hosted a baby shower for some friends. One of our guests was two-month-old baby Karinna; Lily was so sweet with her. Once she realized she wasn't allowed to touch her, all she wanted to do was give the baby a kiss.
She was oh-so-ready to help Fatima open her presents...
We had a lovely afternoon at the National Gallery. Here's a shot of Lily trying to convince me the fountain in the West Building could also double as her baby pool.

Can you taste the excitement?

So obviously I am encouraging her appreciation of the greatest sport ever, but Lily is excited for the NFL season, baby! PTI has been replaced by NFL live and the ladies of our household could not be more excited...

Puzzle

Lily is really expanding her vocabulary lately! I asked her if she wanted to do a puzzle, and she pointed to them and said "Puzzle?" Jeremy and I scrambled for the camera and pleaded with her to do an encore performance.

Nose!

Good times with Josie

Lily has a great time playing with our neighbor, Josie.

Josie is obsessed with shoes... she managed to balance pretty well in a pair of my heels.
No, this is not a daycare facility... our basement has been taken over by Lily's toys and has become a playroom.
Of course we have the Cubs game on in the background for Lily's daddy....

Lily's New Purse

Lily got a special present all the way from Miami, yesterday. She is turning into quite the girly-girl; check out how much she LOVED her new purse! (Thanks, Kathleen and Arianne!!)

Zoo

We hung out at the zoo today. When you're a 14-month-old little girl, what could be better than lots of animals and your always-entertaining Daddy?! Lily got a kick out of the donkeys, as well as Jeremy's sense of humor. No comment from Lily's mommy as to who the bigger jackass was....

Kujaaro lee?

Dropping some more Mandinka, before I forget it all... but today Lily mastered the art of using a spoon. Or more accurately, she attempted to use a spoon without throwing it directly on the ground. Check out the progress.

Time for a Trike

Lily was slightly bored with her ride-on toy, and would rather walk than sit in her stroller... so it seemed like the perfect time for a tricycle! It is just me, or has she grown lately? She looks so tall in these pictures. Her feet can't quite reach the pedals, but she had a lot of fun cruising around the neighborhood!

Artist at work

Lily loves her crayons!

Fun (though hot) weekend

To quote our friend Timmy, it's been a scorcher here in DC this weekend. I was very frustrated at all the efforts to keep Live Earth out of DC (where we would have been within walking distance to great music!) so there was no way I was going to miss an Al Gore appearance at one of the Smithsonians. It was very hot, but we were lucky enough to run into friends on the walk down; Lily and Lucas just hung out in their strollers while their parents caught a glimpse of Al. See below... that little head right below the fence line? That's him.

Later in the day, we headed to a friend's barbecue... Lily splashed in the pool with lots of other kids (no pics - I didn't bring her bathing suit; she went naked!) and enjoyed her first popsicle.

Happy 4th!

Cheering on the Cubs with Daddy.

Enjoying a meal with Cannon... she had her first taste of ribs later in the day!

Life's a Beach

We had a great time at the beach this afternoon. Lily has been enjoying her baby pool so much, we decided it was time to check out the real thing. Making sand castles with Daddy.
Perhaps our future architect
Checking out the water
Getting braver
Despite our protests, Lily ate a lot of sand. Gross.

Cutest baby ever.

Staying abreast of the latest Hollywood gossip...

Jeremy was checking out an article about a friend of ours whose choice of girlfriend makes him a paparazzi favorite... and Lily decided she needed to know what all the fuss was about.
