First Day of School

Lily started a preschool program at our local school today... we put on her uniform, packed her lunch and were on our way. Hard to believe how big she is!

Before we left, Lily picked up a piece of a playmat off the floor and exclaimed, "This is a 3!" Alright, Schoolhouse Rock... let's save something for the classroom.
All ready to go!
On our way... love that her school is two blocks from home.
We ran into Lily's friend Annie on the way. Cute little girls in their plaid....
On her way in...
Hugs for her friend Carter.

Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays

Lily had three good friends with birthday parties on Sunday. Sounds like it would be a crazy day, right... but we all had a blast!

Playground fun for Josephine, along with Krispy Kremes and cupcakes. Mmmm....

Happy Birthday, Josie!
Later that afternoon, we celebrated with Anastasia .... whose mommy organized a really fun craft project - painting papier mache masks!

Happy Birthday, Annie!
Onto a splash park for Emma Kate's birthday... Lily LOVED the water slide.

Happy Birthday, EK!

Lily loved taking a peek at EK's new baby brother... she just wanted to play "This Little Piggy" with his toes and kiss his forehead.

Kansas City Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo has really gotten an upgrade since I lived there! Lily and NOah had fun exploring the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa... Lily also loved that there was a carousel at this zoo, and kept asking to ride a different animal. The gorilla was her favorite!

Princess Nightgown

Lily has REALLY gotten into the Disney princesses lately... somehow she knows who they all are, even the ones where she hasn't seen the movie. At first I thought it was a phase and was trying not to make it a big deal, but she doesn't appear to be losing enthusiasm. She kept asking for a "princess nightgown" instead of her regular PJs, so J and I obliged before Lily spent a few days with her grandparents. She was SOOOO excited (squealed and jumped around when she saw it), and wanted to take a picture with everyone and her nightgown...

Trek to the 'Burbs... in search of Airplanes

Lily loves the Air & Space Museum down on the Mall, so our trek out to the Udvar-Hazy Center (basically, a ginormous airplane hanger filled with Smithsonian treasures too large for the main museum) was very long-overdue. Reliving my space camp days, as J. liked to say... but seriously, check how the sheer size of Enterprise!
Lily got to "fly" a Cessna... not the mere sit-in kind like at the main museum, but there was a volunteer who showed her about pitch, yaw and other maneuvers.
Lily was pretty psyched...

Hrrumph...

Yikes. The little girl appears perturbed by my mere presence at the playground...

Stream of Consciousness

During lunchtime last weekend, Lily was (I thought!) talking about pee, so I reminded her "That's a bathroom word; we don't talk about it at the table." To which she replied that she was talking about PEAS (direct quote - "mom! I'm talking about the little green balls that you eat!) so i grabbed the camera and she just kept talking...
